For example, a serial number of B405 would indicate a cart that was produced in the second month of production (probably July but could be August based on the year), on the fourth day of month (4), and in the year 2005 (05). A later-month run of this production year could have a serial number that read K105.
Echo Battery Date Code
- Locate the serial number for your saw. This is placed in different places for different saws. Stihl chain saws, for example, have the serial number printed on the crankcase or the motor housing.
- Rotating volume ring; Two buttons; Color: Black; 2nd Generation. Colors: Black, White; 3rd Generation. Fabric speaker cover; Colors.
- Look for any lines indicating date of production. Some compound bows use an encoded serial number to provide the date. For example, Martin Archery uses a code for the serial number that is similar to an auto vehicle identification number (VIN). If you have a serial number with no date, write down the number or take a picture of the stamp.
- The code says that the serial number must be 3/8' in height, and be located on the foremost crossmember, numbers must not be stamped into hitches or draw members. They may be covered with rust or behind skirting, and difficult to find, but they are there. The complete serial number, may be either vertical or horizontal.

Step 2: Locate the Model Number
As shown in the Where to Find Your Engine Model Number video below, the engine model number is generally a number stamped into metal directly on your engine.
Some engines come with a cover or 'shroud'. It should be noted that these covers come in a variety of colors, sizes and shapes. Regardless of your cover, the engine model number will be in one of 5 locations:
